My brother is leaving on a two-year mission to San Bernardino, California in twenty days (he enters the MTC the same day Trevor and I leave for Paris). He just came back from BYU Idaho two days ago, before then we hadn't seen him since he left seven months ago.
I just enjoy seeing him around, listening to him play the guitar upstairs, remember his favorite cereal is Apple Jacks, and how he likes to watch 'Planet Earth'...I will really miss him.
I'm feeling really ready for this period of my life to be over - I'm sick of missionaries. All the emotional output, praying, worrying, writing, insufficient e-mails...Trevor, Ben, Holly, now Spencer...I know that's a selfish attitude, but seriously, I hate it when the people I love leave for 1 1/2 to 2 years without being able to see them. I potentially only have two more missionaries to go until my own children leave, but there will be a nice 19-year gap before that happens, and hopefully by then I'll be ready for another round.
Wow only 20 days! I didn't realize he was leaving so soon.
ReplyDeleteAnd hi! Daina sent me the link to your blog! I don't have one, but I do have an account. :)
Also, a question. Did Ben ever have a companion named Elder Erikson? (I don't know if that's spelled right..) because the mission president out here has a son in the same mission Ben was in and he's been out there for a while.. just curious. :)
I got to spend a few days with some missionaries in a program called "Called to Serve" and I got to serve as a mini missionary for a 3 day period. I got a name tag and everything and it was amazing, I learned sooo much just from 3 days, and I know Spencer will learn a lot in his 2 years out there. It was truely amazing and I want to go on a mission now! :D
Anyway, it's nice to find you on here! Miss you! Love ya!
Laura
I feel like I should say something profound in response to this post, something to enlighten or excite you. But, no, it is a long time.
