graduation

Today was graduation. I don't get my diploma till August, but since I've defended my thesis, I'm officially a Mistress of Art. Ta da!
I'm not quite ready to let go of my graduate school friends...you get to know someone so well in seminars, TAing, and in the TA office. Like I know that J has a thing for hamburgers, doesn't like having a roommate, and can't stand the texture of bananas. I know M has a passion for musicals, has been to innumerable country concerts, and is deadly afraid of snakes. E has had his insulin pack stolen twice in Naples, and has a sister at Havard studying Victorian literature, one in Colorado studying drama, and another sister at BYU with us. R just had her baby girl, her family doesn't celebrate the fourth of July and instead reads the story of how Saladin defeated the crusaders in the third crusade. I'm sad we're all going our separate ways. There's such camaraderie associated with surviving a graduate program together....I'm sad not to see them everyday.
Anyway, here are some pics of the day. And OH MY WORD I AM PUFFY. WOW. Full of fluids and pregnant belly. My face is so round! Dah! Oh well, right? I'll lose the fluid after Jo and Millie are born.*

* By the way, both babies are definitely girls as exposed by our ultrasound on Wednesday. It was fun to see them interact with each other - Josephine's head is down and Amelia is up in my left rib cage - and they kick each other and push their arms into the other's space and generally wiggle around each other. They are very active babies. 10 weeks to go!

  1. Congrats! It was fun to see pics of the graduates from your year. I miss you guys.

And don't worry - the puffiness will go away! I know it seems like you are doomed to a life like Violet Beauregarde (I sure felt that way), but I promise, you're not a blueberry. It will be gone soon.
