hard questions

Thanks for the congratulations! The defense was more difficult than I thought it would be. My committee asked some very complicated questions, such as:
"How do you differentiate between a monstrance and a mirror in tapestries?"
"Why do you discount the theory that the Lady is a sibyl?"
"If the Lady allegorically represents the five senses, why do we need to look any deeper into this?"
"Why haven't you looked into La Roman de la Dame a la Licorne (an obscure text that I couldn't find through ILL, WorldCat, and for which I could never find a distinct reference)?"
"What's the significance of French fifteenth-century fashion in the tapestries?"
"Why can't the Lady be singing a love song rather than a lament in Hearing?"
"What if the unicorn is performing his role as the lover-bridegroom?"

My third reader had the hardest questions, mostly because he's such a genius. But, I survived, and passed, and now I have to take all three of their edited versions, make a final draft, deliver it to my adviser once more, and make those corrections. Then it has to go to the Dean of the College, who will also edit it, and once I've incorporated those changes I can turn it into the library *finally.* So I'm not quite finished...but much closer than I was a week ago!

My 6-month check up is tomorrow! I've been reading two books about twins to try to compile a good list of questions to ask the doctor. I am really excited to hear their heartbeats. I feel them kicking almost constantly now; I think I can differentiate between them in fact. Neat-o.
