For Jo and Millie, naptime is a war of attrition. I have to plan high-energy activities every morning from about 10-12. I have to wear them out. In the heat, in the water, at the playground. Staying at home and playing in the backyard isn't enough. Then it takes 30-45 minutes of cuddling, reading, rubbing their backs, quiet music to get them to fall asleep.
BUT THEN. If I beat them, I am rewarded with two hours of childless mama-time. Sure I often spend it preparing meals, and I actually kind of resent that. But sometimes, I get to do whatever I want.
