disney

I am not sure why I am embarrassed to admit to others my obsession with Disneyland or lifelong love of Disney films and shorts. Maybe because it's considered by the educated public so kitschy, and so unsophisticated. And I'm an adult. And most everyone else doesn't 'get it.' But I have to say, I love it. I'm probably embarrassed because it's so contrary to other things I am passionate about. I guess it's my gas station hot dog. And how could anyone have been raised by my mother and not love it?

I also love Star Trek. ALL of them. My dad can quote almost everything that has ever been uttered by Captain Kirk. And you think I'm kidding.

Anyway, I thought I would post my favorite Disney blogs. Not sure if anyone's interested, but I want to keep this blog diverse with posts that aren't anecdotal, including posts that share cool blogs.

2719 Hyperion Avenue. Named after the address of Disney's first studio. This blog focuses on the the original animators, long lost Disneyland attractions, Disney art, and interesting historical tidbits.
Disney and More. This has a lot of Disney triv. The author of this worked as an Imagineer at Disneyland Paris for a long time, so this often has a neat international twist.
Disney History. This often features Disney treasures that come up on Ebay or various sources.
Laughing Place. This website has the most recent, reliable info on the current Disney company and parks. Yep, because I care about that stuff.
Yesterland. Good pictures of the parks from the 1950s, 60s and 70s.
The Disney Blog. This also has updated park information.

So there you have it. I always assume that airing something potentially embarrassing is somehow good for you. Like it lessens your inhibitions or something.

  1. I used to be more embarrassed about particular likes, but in the last few years I've gotten over it. I mean, who cares if I listen to Kylie Minogue or watch The OC? I just like what I like. That said, I don't think you should be ashamed of the Disney love. Animation is an art!
