I have exercised three times a week for a whole month. I can honestly say I have never kept that good a routine ever. I go on the elipse machine, stretch and, my favorite, Pilates for Pregnancy with Melinda Bryan (on DVD). Yep.
The big motivation is that in five and a half months I will be delivering a baby, and it would be a good idea to have a semblance of muscles for that. And then I'm going to carry a baby, baby carrier, car seat and what have you, and it would be good to have a semblance of strength for that too. I also have a tricky right knee that likes to dislocate every once in a while, and I just can't afford to have it do that if I'm carrying the baby up a flight of stairs or something. So I'm trying to strengthen my leg and knee muscles. And, since I've been pregnant, my back hurts like crazy. It gets progressively worse during the day. But stretching those muscles and strengthening them through pilates has helped tremendously.
This is part of a greater trend that started with my becoming pregnant. I have been so good at reading scriptures, putting effort into my calling and church. I just feel like I have so much more to be responsible for now. I need to be my best self for motherhood.
And I've seriously worked at learning to sew. It's been terrific to make dinner with my mom everyday, I learn so much from watching her cook.
All this has been incredibly good for me. I have got to keep up with it!
You are going to be such a good mom! I think it's so great that you're trying to be the best person you can be. This baby is very lucky.
ReplyDeleteSince I have your blog upload in Google Reader, I never knew about your name poll. I vote for "Morgan" and J votes for "Peter." (Naturally, we'll be terribly offended if you don't pick one of those names.)
You're my hero, Shelley! And I'm not just sayin' that!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it great feeling so motivated? I love the feeling that comes when you make a conscious effort to improve yourself.
