At the craft store, my mother found a pair of monkey ears and tail for Josephine, and a tiger tail and ears for Amelia. Jo romped around the house, wrapping her tail-tied-on-with-string around tall objects. After about half an hour, she came into the kitchen, head hung low, and asked me to take off the tail. "Why, Jo?" Dejectedly, she said, "I can't climb."
She was sure that if she finally had a monkey tail, she would have monkey powers. She thought if she wrapped her tail around things, she'd be able to scale them like a monkey. That was one sad little Jo face.
